My Top 10 Favorite Harry Potter Moments!

Hello, readers!

Welcome to day 6 of Harry Potter Week on Reviews by Hannah!

This will be the second to last post in Harry Potter Week, so that I can make a post on Sunday about the Cursed Child book release!

For today’s post, I will be listing out my top 10 favorite Harry Potter moments!

Let’s get started!

10. Hermione punches Malfoy (Prisoner of Azkaban)

“Look at him blubber! Have you ever seen anything quite as pathetic?” said Malfoy. “And he’s supposed to be our teacher!”
Harry and Ron both made furious moves toward Malfoy, but Hermione got there first — SMACK!
She had slapped Malfoy across the face with all the strength she could muster. Malfoy staggered. Harry, Ron, Crabbe, and Goyle stood flabbergasted as Hermione raised her hand again.
“Hermione!” said Ron weakly, and he tried to grab her hand as she swung it back.
“Get off, Ron!”
Hermione pulled out her wand. Malfoy stepped backward. Crabbe and Goyle looked at him for instructions, thoroughly bewildered.
“C’ mon,” Malfoy muttered, and in a moment, all three of them had disappeared into the passageway to the dungeons.

I mean, who doesn’t love this scene?

9. The first appearance of Tom Riddle (Chamber of Secrets)

“Voldemort,” said Riddle softly, “is my past, present, and future, Harry Potter.”

I freaking love this scene. It sends chills down my spine in the movie, and when I read it. I’m not the biggest fan of Chamber of Secrets, but this scene is an A+ scene.

8. Harry’s first Christmas at Hogwarts (Sorcerer’s Stone)

Christmas was coming. One morning in mid-December, Hogwarts woke to find itself covered in several feet of snow. The lake froze solid and the Weasley twins were punished for bewitching several snowballs so that they followed Quirrell around, bouncing off the back of his turban. The few owls that managed to battle their way through the stormy sky to deliver mail had to be nursed back to health by Hagrid before they could fly off again.

This scene is absolutely beautiful in the movies, and it just sounds so magical in the books, that I can’t help but love it.

7. The Department of Mysteries battle (Order of the Phoenix)

Did you actually believe, or are you truly naive enough to think, that children stood a chance against us? I’ll make this simple for you, Potter. Give me the prophecy now… or watch your friends die.

This is probably my favorite battle in the series, which is saying a lot with all of the battles in Deathly Hallows, but it’s so exciting and there’s so many good scenes within it so it makes it onto my top 10 list.

6. Yule Ball (Goblet of Fire)

The Yule Ball is of course a chance for us all to — er — let our hair down.

I love the Yule Ball scene, and everything about it. It’s such a fun scene in the midst of a lot of drama and uneasiness, and it was exactly what that book needed.

5. The Seven Potters (Deathly Hallows)

That’s him, it’s him, it’s the real one!

This scene was just really funny to me (until the battle) and I just really like it because it actually was a very well-written battle scene and just a good opening scene for the book.

4. The Tale of the Three Brothers (Deathly Hallows)

“Death had an Invisibility Cloak?

Sometimes he gets tired of running at people flapping his arms and shrieking—sorry Hermione.

This scene is mainly because of the movie because I could watch the animation for hours and still be in love with it. The book version is a little less magical but still one of my favorites because it made me laugh with Ron’s interjections.

3. Harry’s first Quidditch match (Sorcerer’s Stone)

“Ron and Hermione joined Neville, Seamus, and Dean the West Ham fan up in the top row. As a surprise for Harry, they had painted a large banner on one of the sheets Scabbers had ruined. It said Potter for President.”

This scene is just so heartwarming for me because it shows the friendship between Ron, Hermione, and Harry for the first time in a wide scope. It’s also a fan’s first immersion into Quidditch, and it feels very magical the first time that you read it.

2. Malfoy Manor (Deathly Hallows)

Harry Potter, Dobby has come to rescue you.

This scene breaks my heart in a million and one ways: Dobby’s death, Hermione’s torture, and Ron’s emotional breakdown in the cellar. But it shows how deep the friendship is between Ron, Harry, and Hermione and the lengths they will go to to protect each other. It is also a rare moment that we get to see Draco’s desire to save someone other than himself when he lies about recognizing Harry and the group. It’s just a really amazing scene, and heartbreaking at the same time.

1. The epilogue (Deathly Hallows)

It’s me. I’m extremely famous.

In case you haven’t figured it out yet, I’m a big fan of the Harry Potter next generation. I love the idea of the story continuing on in the children of the trio and that’s a big reason why I’m so excited for Cursed Child. Plus, this scene is just so funny to me and I love it so much and don’t even get me started on the movie version because they completely butchered it and in my opinion that doesn’t even exist. So the book version of the epilogue is definitely my favorite Harry Potter moment out of all seven books.

And that’s it for my top 10 favorite Harry Potter moments!

Let me know your favorite moments in the comments!

  1. I love those moments! It’s impossible to choose just une favourite moment but maybe mine is when The Golden Trio in Goblet of Fire go to the kitchen and see that Dobby is there. Another favourite moment of mine is the battle of Hogwarts ( besides all of the deaths).
